Avit won the tender for the replacement of active network components for the municipality of Súdwest-Fryslân. The framework agreement has a term of five years, with an option to extend for up to two times 12 months.
About the Municipality of Súdwest-Fryslân
The municipality of Súdwest-Fryslân is the largest municipality in the Netherlands by area and the second largest municipality in Fryslân by population. The municipality consists of six towns and 83 villages, with more than 90,000 inhabitants. This dynamic region requires a robust and future-proof network to ensure services to residents and businesses.
Reason for the tender
The tender was necessary to realize a future-proof network and ensure the continuity of all municipal tasks. A modern network is essential to be prepared for the new Cyber Security Act (NIS2) and to enhance the municipality's ability to perform its services efficiently and securely.
Needs of the municipality
The municipality's goal is to contract a vendor that can deliver high-quality network components at market-based prices. This supplier must be proactive in helping to select components that technically best meet the needs of the municipality, fit current equipment and protocols, and can move with market developments.
Harry Zwiers, Manager Information Management and Automation at Municipality of Súdwest-Fryslân: "With Avit as a partner to replace our network components, we are taking an important step towards a robust and future-proof ICT infrastructure. This collaboration ensures the continuity of our services to residents and businesses."
Scope of the tender
The tender includes the renewal of the network at several locations, including both wired and wireless infrastructure, the connection of all locations via a private fiber ring, and the modernization of the data center. Equipment required includes switches, routers and Wi-Fi controllers. Services include factory warranty and technical consulting.
Future-oriented benefits
The tender asked for our expertise and we advised the municipality to invest in a future-proof network. This network will enable the municipality to increase efficiency through faster and more reliable network connections, improve security by being prepared for the new Cybersecurity Act (NIS2), and drive innovation by using the latest technologies such as Software Defined Networking (SDN) and Software Defined Access (SDA).
SDN and SDA are crucial because they offer flexibility and scalability, which is essential for responding to future technological developments and security requirements. This innovation ensures that the municipality of Súdwest-Fryslân is ready for the future and can continue to optimally serve its residents and businesses.
Robert van Zanten, Director at Avit: "With this win, Avit takes an important step in strengthening our presence in the municipal and provincial markets. We are proud to be able to provide the municipality of Súdwest-Fryslân, its employees and residents with high-quality network solutions for the next five years."
