Nieuwegein, 5 November 2019 – Avit, the specialist in network infrastructures, has won the tender from NHL Stenden for the replacement of its IT architecture. A two-year project started on 1 October to design and implement a software-defined network solution. Furthermore, there is an option to twice extend the project by one year. The transition to a software-defined network solution is necessary due to NHL Stenden's innovative educational concept Design Based Education. Avit was selected because of their experience and expertise in transforming an IT architecture into a flexible software-defined network solution.

DESIGN BASED EDUCATION AND SOFTWARE DEFINED NETWORKING

NHL Stenden has a unique educational concept: Design Based Education. This primarily involves working on practical problems. Students learn by trying and doing. This requires flexible IT and network environments, because every practical case requires a different IT capacity. Transforming to a software defined network solution means that all network components such as routers, switches and access points are controlled centrally. This makes the network easier to configure and additionally there is greater insight into the status of the network, the users and applications. Software defined networks provide more flexibility, safety and ease of use.

BUILDING ON EXPERIENCE

Avit is experienced in transforming an IT architecture into a software defined network solution. As an example, they have done this for a critical IT environment in a large hospital. Transforming an IT architecture is a complex and innovative project during which the entire IT architecture needs to be replaced. Avit ensures that the latest technologies can be quickly delivered and implemented, by directly familiarizing and educating employees about these technologies.
