Vianen - Avit, network integrator and managed service provider, once more has won the tender of NHL Stenden University. Avit had already been selected in 2019 to set up a software-defined network solution. After a fruitful collaboration in recent years, Avit and NHL Stenden are now also taking the next steps together to lay the foundation for a future-proof IT infrastructure. The proven knowledge and experience of Avit, when it comes to Cisco Digital Networking Architecture (DNA) solutions and flexible software defined networking, were decisive.
FOCUS ON PERFORMANCE, FLEXIBILITY, SCALABILITY AND SECURITY
As part of the first tender in 2019, Avit has given shape and substance to the innovation of NHL Stenden University's network infrastructure. The transition to a software-defined network solution was central to this. A large part of the network components such as routers, switches and firewalls have been renewed and are centrally controlled. This makes the network easier to configure and offers more insight into the status of the network, users, and applications. Network tasks can be automated to a high degree. This is exactly what NHL Stenden needs to be able to guarantee high-quality education, with a focus on performance, flexibility, scalability, and security.
OPTIMIZING THE NETWORK ENVIRONMENT
Following the latest tender, Avit and NHL Stenden are continuing the roadmap and renewing the wireless infrastructure and access management. The call for tenders concerned first of all a broad technological knowledge and the supply and implementation of a wide variety of network components. Secondly, much emphasis was placed on providing proactive advice when it comes to optimizing the network environment. With its years of experience in higher education and extensive knowledge of the Cisco portfolio, Avit is able to translate NHL Stenden's vision into the right network environment. This was largely decisive to the choice of the educational institution.
"It is extremely special that being an existing partner, Avit is allowed to sign for the next phase in the realization of software-defined networking at NHL Stenden. We are very proud of this," says Marcel Martens, Sector Unit Manager of Education at Avit. "We have worked well together over the past years in implementing the latest network technologies and preparing the organization step-by-step for software-defined networking. The fact that once more NHL Stenden has chosen Avit shows that we have lived up to our promises and that mutual trust is high."
Swen van Beveren, Team Leader DLWE of Digital Operations at NHL Stenden: "NHL Stenden is a young, highly dynamic university of applied sciences where change is an every day’s affair. The ICT department is expected to be able to respond quickly to changing demand from the education sector and services, and to deliver quickly to the organization. This requires a flexible and agile, but also robust and properly secured IT infrastructure. We are pleased to report that we have taken essential steps towards this with Avit through software-defined networking. We look forward to continuing the roadmap together and building a future-proof network environment."
