TERGOOI HOSPITAL CHOOSES AVIT

FOR COMPLETE RENOVATION OF NETWORK INFRASTRUCTURE

THE FIRST HOSPITAL IN THE NETHERLANDS SWITCHING TO CISCO SOFTWARE DEFINED ACCES

Vianen, 4 July 2023 - The Tergooi hospital is the first hospital in the Netherlands to decide to replace, together with Avit, its existing network infrastructure by a completely new environment based on Cisco Software Defined Access (SDA). To a hospital like Tergooi a flawlessly operating, reliable and safe network environment is essential. Since all security functions have been fully integrated in the new network, Tergooi can substantially reinforce information security. Furthermore, this network infrastructure provides more flexibility, highly simplified management and lower management cost. It allows to use medical equipment more easily in random places in the network. Cisco SDA is also more future-resistant than the current environment. It is expected that the locations in Hilversum and Blaricum of the Tergooi hospital will have fully switched to the new network environment by mid-summer.

NETWORK EQUIPMENT CRUCIAL TO INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION

The patients and 4,000 employees on both locations rely on the network for carrying out important care tasks and for all their information and communication needs. Mid-2017, it was clear that the current network equipment did not meet the strongly changing requirements anymore and had to be replaced.

Erik Vosmeijer, ICT Manager of Tergooi hospital: “Tergooi is a hospital that continuously studies how to improve care. ICT plays an important and innovative role in this. At the same time, ICT should contribute to efficiency improvement and cost control. When it appeared that our network environment could no longer keep up with this, we chose complete replacement with a future-resistant Cisco network. For its implementation we got in touch with Avit. This Cisco Gold Partner did not only come up with a proposal that met the needs of Tergooi seamlessly, but moreover proved to be a flexible and highly expert partner at the meetings.”

“We are very proud to have been selected for this important project at the Tergooi hospital. This means a big step into the health care sector for us”, so says Evert Smit, Sector Unit Manager Health Care Avit. “Many organizations in health care are still compelled to busy themselves with network management and do not get to innovation.

Our care innovations aim at unburdening health care workers and have them collaborate more efficiently. For this, tools are used like video meetings, video consults and a lot more. Quality of care is key. This is true in the present eventful times but also for the future.”
